Simon Newton

Simon leads the Research and Privacy teams at Cloudflare, shaping theoretical advances and translating them into resilient, internet-scale systems. His work spans internet mechanics, hardware-level security, cryptography, applied privacy, and identity & attestation. Simon has influenced emerging web standards - including work on paid web crawling - and champions open-source security, with contributions to high-assurance projects such as Qubes OS and Libreboot/Heads. Before joining Cloudflare, he held leadership roles including Vice President of Product & Engineering at Bunny CDN and Senior Manager at Akamai Technologies.
